In Out of Italy we have chosen to travel in small groups to live an authentic experience. Our trips bring you to out-of-the-beaten track places, to small hidden villages and borghi* where people still carry on ancient tradition, food receipts and timeless life-style practises still unknown to mass tourism.
Our journeys require a spirit of curiosity towards different realities, to be respected and appreciated for their uniqueness. During these trips we want to establish a relationship with locals, positive group feeling, be sustainable and responsible, optimise visiting and travel times and choose cosy typical accommodation for the overnights. A different way of travelling to better capture moments of ordinary everyday life.
Beyond the well-known destinations, Italy hides unique and authentic places, far from mass tourism, that are waiting for you to be revealed.
Out of Italy makes you discover all these remote beauties, with a different story-telling, made with passion and love.

Crystal-clear waters, incredible blue sea, white sunny beaches embraced by a wild and varied nature...These are the images that commonly come to mind when talking about Sardinia, but beyond the coast, there is an island with a unique archaeological heritage and ancient traditions that even many Italians do not know. A great treasure kept in the heart of the island at the centre of the Mediterranean Sea.
Itineraries
Day 1
Cagliari - arrival
______
Meet and greet at the airport, and transfer to Cagliari. In the afternoon we meet the local guide and we visit the old town of Karalis (ancient name of Cagliari). The first stop is the Archaeological Museum where we learn about the Nuragic civilization, the Giants of Mont'e Prama and other founds coming from the original Phoenician-Punic-Roman Karalis. Walking tour of the narrow lanes in the historical city center: The Castel. This is the symbol of Cagliari where we can follow the long and complex history of this city. Our guide will bring us to the panoramic point of Monte Urpinu, which offers a stunning view of the city, here we can also appreciate a not to be missed attraction: “the Basilica of Nostra Signora of Bonaria”, patroness of Sardinia. The tour ends with a dinner at the restaurant Su Combidu in the Marina district, and overnight.
Day 2
Cagliari - Sinnai - Villaputzu - Sa Rutta
______
Today we begin early morning with breakfast and soon after we move to Sinnai for a unique experience of three hours: a baking bread class. Here we learn local secrets and try our hand at two of the typical local recipes: the Coccoi (a decorated durum-wheat-semolina bread) and the Pintau bread (decorated bread that is still baked for special events, festivities or important celebrations and ceremonies).
In the afternoon we move to the village of Villaputzu, where we will get some time for relax before moving, by cross-country vehicles, to Sa Rutta. This site, which name in Sardinian means “cave”, is a place completely immersed in the nature and far from the nowadays civilization. Here we will enjoy an exclusive welcome drink/aperitif around the fire and a dinner full of local tastes and flavours in a sheepfold.
Overnight is in an exclusive suspended tent in the wood of SaRutta: a real must-do experience. SaRutta is the key point of this trip; it is an exclusive suspended tented camp in the middle of a wild and still unspoilt corner of Sardinia, a lifetime experience that can be enjoyed all the year around in many different ways.
